Blind Alien Commits a Self-Burial Attempt at a Pet Cemetery During Full Solar Equinox. 2024, 21 x 29 cm, Canadian maple, paint, carving
"The Stories on the Blind Alien"
23.05.24 - 15.07.24 @ Maxim Boxer Gallery, Riga
In the exhibition, artist offers viewers a glimpse into the tales of the Blinded Alien, which metaphorically explores power and cruelty, strength and weakness, lies and truth, and uncertainty in the face of the unknown.
Since the beginning of his career, Fišers work has not been without virtuoso painting, but for the past ten years, the technique of woodcut has played an important role in his practice. In scenes, which are created on a polished black wood base, the artist's carved line has a soulful emotionality, meticulousness and, above all, life.
Fišers has always been drawn to an intergalactic scale, and throughout his practice, he has maintained a juxtaposition of the cosmic system and the individual that is at times implicit but always present. By studying the evidence of past civilizations and cultures, Fišers has gained an insight into the enduring processes; a fundamental scheme of existence that accompanies humanity. The artist's system of visual images and the subjects depicted stimulate the viewer's interest in the role of the individual in the cosmic equation. Irony plays an important role in the treatment of these themes, helping to highlight the absurd and irrational nature of the underlying matrix without didacticism or moralizing. Irony offers lightness, while the galactic distance is great enough to raise the question: why are we unable to change this matrix?
The exhibition invites the viewer to experience the Stories of the Blinded Alien, where the image and its title are equally important. The artworks presented allow for both empathizing with and distancing oneself from the protagonist, while at the same time delving into a cocktail of conspiracy theories and mysticism.
